About Us
After graduating from the School of Visual Arts and earning my MFA from Hunter College--both in New York City, I went on to work in the education field as a ceramics teacher in a Brooklyn Middle School. During my time teaching, I met so many wonderful kids in that Brooklyn neighborhood, as well as many great teachers. It was a great experience, and a valuable time in my life.
Moving back to Long Island, I went on to work for a start-up Internet company on Long Island. Sales. At first it was design and sales--then project management. . . not so creative in the conventional sense, but financially satisfying--that is until the Internet bubble burst.
No worries, though! It was time to move forward. I'd been doing freelance web design and computer graphics since the 90's. Yet, I realized I wanted to be more creative in a more "hands-on manner". Custom cakes!
For a while I'd been yearning to get my hands back into doing something really creative while watching all the cake decorating shows. Hands down, Duff is the best. The tone of the show is creative and sincere. I wanted to do that!
It is truly satisfying. I get to make art that makes people smile. . . when they look at it and when they eat it! I get the satisfaction of "wowing" others with my talents, making custom creations they can share with family and friends.
Although I started from nothing, I have to say that I am rich now--rich with love and the unwavering support of my awesome husband who has stood by me every step of the way. That's him in the photo above. He's a hottie! Thanks for standing by me, John.
This is lots of fun! I invite you to join the fun, and give us a call to talk about the cake, cupcakes or edible favors for your event. We can make for your special event. I bet you'll love what we do for you, and your guests will too! 631-269-5949 or email us at info@rhapsodycakes.biz
